Changes to your chalet holiday this winter season.

This winter season is going to be very different for guests and staff all over the Alps. Here at Ice and   Fire we hope to retain some normality to your ski holiday, providing you our home from home service with as minimal disruption as possible. We would like to ensure you we will be following strict guidelines to put guest safety and our staff safety at the top of our list.



Before our season starts staff receive in depth training in all aspects of your chalet holiday. This year we will be adding extra training modules to include covid-19 cleaning, safety and procedures. We only deal in high standards and this extra training will be no exception. Staff we be following strict cleaning schedules which include communal areas and guests bedrooms and bathrooms. High touch points will be cleaned more regularly and we ask guests to be conscious about how much contact they have with high contact points such as banisters and door handles.  Cleaning checks will be carried out of a daily basis by management to ensure your chalet is kept to a high standard of cleanliness.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer has become and every day feature of our lives and it could be for months to come. Hand Sanitizer will be available in the chalet and both chalet staff and guests will be asked to use on entering and departing the chalet. We will also ask guests and staff to use hand sanitizer when coming into contact with high contact areas, before eating or preparing food, any time where you might sneeze or cough or blow your nose. We recommend adding Hand sanitizer to your list of holiday essentials for going about the mountain.


Arrival and departure

Arriving and departing the chalet will be slightly different this year due to new regulations and to allow staff to clean your chalet to a very high standard after the previous guests. Guest will now not be permitted to enter the chalet until 4pm on arrival days and you must depart the chalet before 10am. We understand you may want to ski on arrival or departure day and will endeavour to help you ski by storing your bags but you will unfortunately not be allow to re enter for any reason.

When you arrive we will ask you to wash your hands thoroughly before settling in. Staff will then be on hand to assist you in cleaning your luggage; this will include high touch areas such as the handles and outside of your cases.

During your Stay

During your stay we will be asking anyone entering the chalet to wash their hands, this includes any suppliers, staff and all guests. We understand that it will be difficult with skis, boots and jackets etc but we will ask you to change in our boot rooms and then make your way to the available hand wash sink.  During your stay we will also ask you to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue if you cough or sneeze - tissues are available in all of our chalets. On catered days our staff will continue to clean your bedrooms and bathrooms as normal.

If you become unwell

If In the event you become unwell during your stay with us. If this does happen our staff will be on hand to assist you in whichever way needed. If you display covid-19 symptoms at any time of your stay it is crucial that you seek medical attention and stay isolated in your room and alert a member of your party or staff. This is imperative for guest safety and staff safety, isolating gives us a great upper hand at controlling the potential spread inside the chalet.


As mentioned earlier, our staff will be highly trained in all aspects of covid training but they will also be wearing masks and where needed extra protection, to not only ensure you are protected but also for their safety. Our staff will be on hand to help you, if needed.  



Breakfast will be slightly different, instead of our buffet type set up we will be using single use items. Individual portions of butter, jam etc will hopefully help to prevent any possible spread. Juice, Tea and coffee will be poured for you at your table to enable you to be seated as much as possible. You will also be asked to share milk jugs within your individual groups. Croissants will of course be available everyday as will our hot option, porridge and bread.

Afternoon tea

When it’s time to unwind after a long day out on the mountain we usually offer a help yourself afternoon tea. This year we only be slightly different with us serving cut cake on plates designated for your individual group. With guests who have sole occupancy of the chalet this will not apply. We will ask you to be courteous to other guests staying in the chalet when making your tea and coffee in mind of social distancing.


Dinner should not be disrupted as it is all served to you at your table, with this is mind we will ask you to share water jugs, Bread baskets and butter in your individual groups. Wine will be served by your host to your table. We will ask guests to remain seated as much as possible during dinner.

Canapés and cocktails will be served also in your individual groups.



We will of course still be serving cheese and providing our famous cheese speech on catered evenings. This year we will serve cheese to each individual group for you to share.

Here at Ice and Fire we know for you, our customers and for us it has been a difficult year. We would like to start by spreading some cheer and announce that it has started snowing here in the Alps and we cannot wait for winter to fully arrive. After last season’s early finish we know some of you are hoping to get yourself out to La Plagne for some well needed skiing (and relaxing if skiing is not your thing!) We want to assure you that we are taking into account all possible procedures and amendments that are needed to run our chalets in a covid safe manner and still offer you that great Ice and Fire service as interrupted as we can.

We want you to know that our booking protection has always been to a high standard and to ensure your holiday is as smooth as possible we will be adding a few extra precautions incase of any changes.

Our Covid-19 holiday guarantee means you can book with confidence and have total peace of mind knowing your holiday is in our hands.


Reasons to book with us

We know you don’t need any extra reasons to book a ski holiday but here are some suggestions to make your experience a fantastic one.

Drive to Resort

Driving to resort can be a great option for those who do not wish to travel through airports or train stations. We have plenty of parking available at all our chalets. Driving to and from resort gives you the freedom to arrive and leave when you need, you can bring those creature comforts with you like your favourite pillow, there is no weight limits and you can bring and take back whatever you would like!

Ski Passes

Purchasing your ski passes in advance will not only save you time but can allow you to be on the slopes as soon as you get to resort. We can buy your ski passes in advance and have them ready for your arrival at the chalet. No more waiting in line at the busy lift pass office!

Ski Hire brought to you

Booking your ski hire with us means our trusted friends at Rental Republic will come to your chalet with your skis for fitting. They are also on hand to visit for adjustments during your stay.

Dedicated Staff

Our dedicated chalet team will be on hand to make your holiday the safest and best experience it can be. During our staff training we will cover in depth the new measures for covid cleaning including increased cleaning high contact spots and communal areas. Our staff will be on hand to help and assist you throughout your holiday but as always to provide an exceptional service. Our staff, hosts, chefs and also management will all be completing courses in covid safety and cleaning before the season so will be completely up to date with all measures required.

Food Delivery

Due to restaurants operating at a smaller capacity we know it may be harder to get a table on our chalet staffs night off. We can arrange for food to be delivered through Huski,( a trusted meals on wheels service) who can deliver gourmet oven ready meals to your door. Or we can suggest a great pizza delivery in Les Coches.

Shopping Service

We have added a shopping service to your holiday this year, making it even easier to sit back and relax. Before you head out to us we will provide you with a list of things available to buy which will be ready for your check in at the chalet.

Make your own lunch

Due to covid restrictions some mountain restaurants may operate at a lower capacity and potentially have a booking service. We hope to know more information as the season gets closer. Because of this we would like to offer as part of our shopping service lunch items to be purchased so you can make your own lunch to take on the mountain.

Complimentary Bar

Après Ski may be a little different this year but our complimentary bar will stay the same. Our beer and wine will be kept topped up for your stay so why not après in the chalet? With use of a speaker, board games, games consoles and plenty of space why not make your own fun. (Beer and Wine included, spirits can be purchased at an additional cost.)


The Small Print

If in the event your chalet, our resort, or country has to close due to Covid-19 or a travel ban is enforced in the UK or France and full payment has been made (six weeks before departure) we will defer your holiday until the next year or further on in the year if the ban is lifted. (Charges may apply for changing weeks or chalet, for full terms and conditions please see our website.)

Our deposit is now £50pp (this is non refundable) to secure a booking. We have now lowered our final payment date to six weeks before your travel; after full payment is made we will only offer deferral on your holiday due to further outbreak or travel restrictions.

Please note our low booking deposit of £50pp will return to £200pp on October 1st.

This is valid up to the date of travel and in the event of covid interrupting your holiday once you have arrived there will be no refund available. Ice and Fire will endeavour to help you in every way possible in the event of outbreak/returning to the UK due to covid-19.

In the event of yourself or anyone on the booking contracting Covid-19 we will not be offering a refund or deferral.

In the event of yourself or anyone on the booking decides to not travel due to Covid-19 we will not be offering a refund or deferral.
