A Great Start to the 2018-19 Season

It’s been a couple of weeks now since the start of the Ice and Fire season for 2018/19 and we’re off to a snowy start. With a large amount of snow falling In mid December covering the pistes and preparing them for lift openings and our first guests arriving, to the New Year with snow falling now for two days, refreshing the pistes for some well needed powder days. If it’s a snow sure resort you’re after then La Plagne is waiting for you!

There have been some well needed changes over here this year. Our chairlifts are now mostly fitted with magic carpets and with over 70 percent of them being upgraded to high speed. Which has not only sped up queue times, they have made them much more comfortable to ride. The chairlift Inversens has finally been replaced; cold bottoms and long waits are a thing of the past!image2

If you visited us in La Plagne last year, you’ll remember the big hole in the ground in the centre which has now been ‘filled in’ thankfully with some cool things! Like a brand new tourist office with upgraded live bus positions, toilets and a warm waiting area for our shiny new bus station.

It has also given a home to lovely little bar called Floe situated above the bus station. You can enjoy a great hot chocolate or beer inside one of their heated igloos, warming those toes after a long days skiing or just to watch the snow fall around you. After you’ve warmed up you could have a go on our new ice rink (conveniently next to Floe) which is open every day! They have also built a new bowling complex next to the ice rink which offers Bowling, Billiards, table football, arcade games and of course a bar.

Children Christmas

Christmas was full of festive fun with all of our chalets booked for families staying with us for a relaxing and enjoyable week. Our trees were decorated, mice pies made, turkeys stuffed and to top it all off we enjoyed a bluebird day on Christmas, what more could you wish for? Father Christmas even took time out of his busy schedule to visit us here in the mountains towed by his sled dogs!

New Year came with a bang, fireworks and celebrations surrounding every village in the area. A big party on the piste kicked off 2019 in Plagne Bellecotte and also down in Montchavin. Partying into the early hours with DJ’s and Vin Chaud to keep us warm! Every bar was celebrating with live music, drinks promotions and fancy dress, really giving us a feel for what La Plagne has to offer to 2019.

When you think of our whopping 9.22m of snow last year it’s hard to wonder how much snow we will have this year but it’s shaping up to be a great season!

See you on the Slopes!
