Les Coches Ski and Village Information

Built using local materials, and designed for sustainable development, Les Coches has retained a true village feel, whilst at the same time ensuring that visitors are well provided for. The pedestrian village centre, with its shops, bars, ski hire and ski schools is compact and friendly.

Facilities

Les Coches has an excellent ice rink which is open into the evening, and a well designed sledging area. If you fancy a drink in the evening why not wander down to the friendly Last One Pub or play a bit of pool in the Roxor bar? For those on a big night out, there's a cheesy club in nearby Montchavin. There is also a cinema and chemist in Montchavin, being a traditional French town there are also some excellent restaurants for lunch.

Events

The Les Coches tourist office organise a variety of weekly events in the resort throughout the winter season including decorations, a tree and carol concert over Christmas; fireworks and a party on the piste at New Year and an excellent Easter egg hunt during the Easter break. There is also a market once a week with traditional French fare including cheeses and saucisson. Ask your chalet hosts for a weekly program when you arrive.

Skiing

Les Coches has two nursery slopes and the excellent Evolution 2 ski school operates from the village. It also has two well connected lifts out - one chair and one bubble - making it great for beginners and good skiiers alike. There is a good combination of easy and medium difficulty runs back to the town. During days when there is heavy snow and clouds Les Coches has the advantage of being nestled in trees for better visibility while skiing. It also has a good variety of accesible off piste skiing.

Location

Les Coches is situated in the heart of the Paradiski domain, just one lift away from the world famous Vanoise express. Originally two distinct resorts - La Plagne and Les Arcs - the construction of the Vanoise Express lift in 2003, the largest cable car in the world, joined the two areas into one domain - Paradiski. Now one of the biggest ski areas in Europe, you have access to 425km of pistes and more than 2000m of vertical drop.
